LOS ANGELES (Reuters) -Hollywood’s actors union voted to authorize a strike if contract talks break down, turning up the warmth on main movie and tv studios already grappling with a piece stoppage by writers.
SAG-AFTRA, which represents 160,000 actors, mentioned 97.91% of the votes that have been solid supported a strike authorization. Talks between the actors union and main studios are scheduled to begin on Wednesday.
Over the weekend, the studios doubtless averted one other work stoppage by reaching a tentative cope with the Administrators Guild of America (DGA). That pact will take impact if DGA members vote to ratify it.
Actors, of their negotiations, will search greater pay and safeguards towards unauthorized use of their pictures by means of synthetic intelligence. Their present deal expires June 30.
